DATE POSTED: Wednesday, August 20, 2008
The WHQ staff is not only responsible for their myriad administrative and office duties but throughout the year, various WHQ staffers field special short missions to areas where there is no longer a full time unit. Since 2006 the WHQ has sent a special unit to Alaska at least once a year for 3 – 5 weeks giving performances in a variety of churches, schools, prisons, and juvenile detentions centers throughout the state. This fall a unit is scheduled to return to Alaska October 5 – 26.
Since 2003, the WHQ has sent a special unit each year to Minnesota for contract work with the Parenting Resource Center in Austin, MN. Working hand in hand with this agency, Covenant Players performs for schools and other community groups dealing with a variety of themes such as Substance Abuse and other related topics. Covenant Players will return to MN again November 8 – 21.
On August 15 of this year the WHQ sent a special unit to Hsinchu City, Taiwan to lead and teach a week long English Drama Camp at the National Experimental High School. Participation in the Covenant Players Drama Workshop increases the communication skills for these for Jr. and Sr. High School students. Veteran China missioner, Stephanie Foster and CP Veteran staffer David Kitch are covering this exciting playdate.
